Join us in a collaboration with the Scripps Coastal Reserve to learn more about the flora and fauna of the reserve while lending a hand to remove invasive plants. This event will be a first come, first served basis off of this RSVP form. Selected scholars will be sent a confirmation email with an attached liability waiver that must be filled out to participate in this event. Make sure to wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Gloves and tools will be provided.

Join us for this year’s Legacy Lecture featuring Professor Maziar Ghazinejad from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering! Chosen by popular vote from students across UC San Diego, Professor Ghazinejad will share insights from his journey in research, teaching, and engineering innovation.

Professor Ghazinejad joined the Jacobs School of Engineering in 2018 after earning his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Riverside. His work spans mechanical and electrical engineering, carbon nanomaterials, engineering education, and much more. A recipient of the Provost’s Faculty Award and the DEED Award from the American Public Power Association, he is also an active member of ASME, MRS, ASEE, and SPIE. Come celebrate excellence in teaching and research—and hear from one of UCSD’s most inspiring professors!

Thinking about medical school? Join us for our Pre-med Workshop Panel, featuring Scholars Society alumnus Mohnish Alishala, who will share his insights virtually over Zoom. Mohnish will cover everything from which classes to take and how to get involved in research, to when to apply for medical school and which extracurriculars help your application stand out. There will also be a live Q&A, giving you the chance to ask questions directly and get advice tailored to your goals. At this event, new Scholars will meet their assigned Mentors and/or Mentees for the academic year. We’ll kick things off with a short introduction by the Mentor-Mentee Co-Chairs, followed by reveals and fun icebreaker activities to help you connect. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
